LOTR - Brief 3 / Presentation Boards

-
LOTR final presentation boards that showcase a product range and the illustrations that I have produced for the project. This was a bit of different direction with my practice, but I'm happy with how the visuals.

LOTR - Final Product Photographs

-
The final product photographs for the LOTR project. The publication does not in my eyes visually meet its potential but the A2 prints are more effective than I originally anticipated as the colours work better than I initially intended. The type sits quite nicely next to each one, and together with the publication they make quite a nice range.

LOTR - Publication Printed

-
Cutting out and quickly binding the pages together, this is a bit of a naff job to be honest as I had odd stock, which makes the publication look shoddy. Also I did want to print it A3 double sided, but due to financial difficulty I could not. Oh well, it still looks alright.

LOTR - Final Publication

-
Dun, dun. dunnnn. Finally made it, I've had to cut a couple of corners and water down the project slightly due to time constraints, but this has allowed me to understand that this style of illustration is not the right direction for me. Although the context is there for the visuals, I do not feel that they are all that original as the characters already exist. Drawing from a thought is way more interesting. Anyway, here it is in PDF format.

LOTR - Complied Illustrations

-
Compiled illustrations from the project, focussing on detailed hand rendered, stippling techniques.

LOTR - Page Spread Development

-
Edging towards the final stages of the publication as I am now focussing on the body text alongside the illustration. Conforming to a consistent layout is boring, so I have changed it up on each page and tried to create something that is equally as interesting as the original image.

LOTR: Map of Middle Earth Development

-
Pretty annoyed at myself with this visual, as I actually traced an image. Something I do not condemn as it is my eyes, cheating. But with time drastically disappearing I have no choice but the quickly trace a vector of the map of middle earth. Never again though.

FMP - Final Crit Boards

-
Put together a set of boards outlining each of my major briefs in order to make sure people understand where my project is coming from and what it is I am actually doing.

LOTR - Elrond / Defined PSD Edit

-
Re-defined my Elrond illustration and made it more visually effective, I think it ties it nicely with the other illustrations I have been working on. Again this will be added into the publication.

LOTR - Ship / Defined PSD Edit

-
One of my favourite illustrations out of the series, I spent some time on this trying to create a visual of the ship at harbour. This will be added into the publication.

LOTR - Print Test / Publication

-
Printed the publication I have been working on in black and white, to see how it will eventually work once the layout and content is complete. As I am focussing on displaying the illustrations as big as possible the format of this would be folded A3 to keep it simple and avoid wasting time on worrying about dimensions.

LOTR - Test Publication

-
Text publication with cover.

LOTR - Page Spread / Development

-
First page spreads of the LOTR publication  Now with the illustrations in place alongside text I can see how they would work within the context of a book. The text at the moment is just placeholder, so I need to work out how I am going to form the content for it. Copy and paste seems like the logical option right now as I do not have the time to write my own content.

LOTR - Finer PSD Edits

-
Finally got round to producing a series of illustrations edited in photoshop, to create high visual quality and impact. Overall I feel that these are pretty effective and match the requirements of my brief, something I want to achieve fully in order to showcase my illustrations with multiple uses.

LOTR - Quick PSD Edits

-
Quick photoshop edits of a few of the illustrations I have been working on. I needed to get these finished as soon as possible as they are going to form the content to my publication they need to be finalised to a professional standard of quality.

LOTR - Current Illustrations / Scans

-
Scanned in most of my current illustrations so far so I have them to develop into digital images and begin placing them into a publication. As a set I think they work effectively together and it fit's in nicely with the theme of reading a book.

LOTR - Bilbo's House Illustration

-
Bilbo's house in the shire. Spent most of the day drawing this out, as it is going to form a double page spread for the LOTR book I'm working on. Visually I think it stands out quite effectively as part of the content. One of my favourites to be honest.

LOTR - Illustration Direction

-
Spent a lot of time drawing for this project but did not really know what direction to go with in terms of the illustration. But I finally settled on stippling and stepping away from quick character sketches to more detailed pieces of work. These eventually will be completed with a set of others and digitally manipulated on photoshop, forming the content of the book.

FMP - Defined SOI

-
Defined SOI. As most of my projects have changed, I had to re-write the SOI in order for it work with what I am working on throughout each of my briefs.

FMP - Defined Briefs

-
Defined and edited briefs for the FMP. I needed to go through these and make sure they make sense, otherwise my project work won't relate to the aims and intentions of the brief.
